Updated Renewable Energy Plan Approved

On October 6, 2008, Public Act 295 (MCL 460.1001) was signed into law by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. This Act, known as the Clean, Renewable and Efficient Energy Act, established a Renewable Energy Standard for the State of Michigan.

The Renewable Energy Standard requires Michigan electric providers to achieve a retail supply portfolio that includes at least ten percent renewable energy by 2015.  Michigan electric providers are required to file an updated plan specifying how they intend to meet this requirement and provide an opportunity for public comment.  The BLP's Renewable Energy Plan update was approved in June. We will be taking public comments on that plan either in writing or at the July 20, 2011 Board meeting at 1700 Eaton Drive.
