Updated Energy Optimization Plan

On October 6, 2008, Public Act 295 (MCL 460.1001) was signed into law by Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. This Act, known as the Clean, Renewable and Efficient Energy Act, established an Energy Optimization Standard for the State of Michigan.

The Energy Optimization Standard requires Michigan electric providers to offer energy efficiency programs that will achieve a 1% kilowatt hour reduction in retail energy use beginning in January 2012.  Michigan electric providers are required to file an updated plan specifying how they intend to meet this requirement and provide an opportunity for public comment.  The BLP's Energy Optimization Plan update will be approved at the August 18 Board meeting. We will be taking public comments on that plan either in writing or at the August 18, 2011 Board meeting at 1700 Eaton Drive. Please access the following link for more information regarding this program.
