The Grand Haven Board of Light & Power is seeking detailed-oriented individuals with effective communication/interpersonal skills to join our team.

LEAD JOURNEYMAN TREE TRIMMER

Responsibilities: Trims and removes trees around energized electrical lines and equipment to maintain clearances. Operates and maintains tree trimming equipment including bucket trucks, chainsaws, pruners, etc. This position will also be trained in trenching and installation of de-energized electrical equipment.

Qualifications:
Completion of a journeyman utility tree trimmer (line clearance) program and three or more years’ experience as a journeyman tree trimmer. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and positively with customers and coworkers. Excellent attendance and safety record. 

PLANT UTILITY

Responsibilities: Position works a flexible schedule with 12-hour rotating shifts. Operates, inspects, adjusts, and maintains equipment at the coal-fired Sims Generating Station located on Harbor Island in Grand Haven.

Qualifications:
High School graduate. Completion of one (1) high school level course each in general or applied mathematics and in power mechanics or related subjects; or, equivalent combination of training and experience. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and positively with coworkers. Excellent attendance and safety record.

MAINTENANCE CUSTODIAN

Responsibilities: Cleans utility production facilities and performs facility maintenance work; supports operations and maintenance departments.

Qualifications:
High school graduate. Custodial, maintenance and industrial experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and positively with customers and coworkers. Excellent attendance and safety record.

ACCOUNTING CLERK

Responsibilities: You will record and process AP, payroll, miscellaneous billing and related data as well as perform basic Customer Account Rep and administrative support duties. Additionally, you will prepare accounting reports demonstrating impeccable accuracy at all times.

Qualifications: An Associate degree with a major in Accounting is required. Two years' experience in bookkeeping and administrative support or equivalent combination of training and experience also needed. Must be familiar with accounting and office practices/procedures along with prescribed accounting codes and classifications.
