our environment

The Grand Haven Board of Light and Power is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and demonstrating environmental stewardship. We have shown this through participation in the Granger Landfill Gas project, being the first utility in the State of Michigan to add a Plugin Hybrid Electric Bucket Truck to our fleet, contracting with Muskegon Based Alternative Energy Solutions (AES) to test the viability of an alternative, locally harvested and locally processed Organic Biofuel in the diesel generators, and implementation of an Energy Efficient Street Light Program. Environmental equipment including our UREA system, precipitator and scrubber unit is installed at the J.B. Sims Generating Station to clean emissions from the flue gas prior to releasing into the atmosphere. As a responsible corporate citizen, the BLP continues to seek alternative opportunities for our energy supply while balancing power pricing and demonstrating environmental stewardship.
